DC Universe: Superman/Batman - ‘星と花’
‘The Star and the Flower’.
Based on the infamous JLA Elseworld tale ‘Shogun of Steel‘. Which you might have guessed from the title that it’s set in feudal Japan. The infamy part probably came from the fact that Bruce got genderf**ked. What? You think DC Comics is going to let their 2 biggest icons fall in love otherwise?
It’s Valentine’s Day, so it’s time for happy couples for a change! Superman (Hoshi) and Batwoman (Hana) among the sakuras. I plead ignorance as to why their clothes don’t seem to be staying on their backs very well. I also want to take this opportunity to apologise to the Japanese for mangling their national flower.
Sakuras, because of their very brief period of blossoming, are known as the symbol of transient life in Japan. Which is a Very Bad foreshadowing of what eventually happens in this comic. Let us now scrap our minds of the memories of the comic’s actual ending and fill in our own instead. I’m thinking that this piece takes place after all has been said and done, and Hoshi and Hana end up together married with a bunch of tiny half-supers running (flying?) around.
You can see the pencil version of the figurework here. I save it down because I actually liked the curves I drew on Hana’s body (which all ended up being obscured).
